DOT Helmet Approval Regulations

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The Federal Department of Transport (hereinafter DOT) requires that all motorcycle helmets are tested for safety in the United States. The DOT has no home tests on these helmets, identification that meet stringent standards. If you're thinking of buying a motorcycle helmet sticker and do not see a point, think again. This is not a helmet that you trust with your life. Probably intended as a novelty, not for riding motorcycles.

Makeproper helmet on his head, and get your head around these statistics –

The DOT studies show that the percentage of motorcyclists wearing helmets year fell 13 percent in the last four, up to 58 percent of the drivers. Despite representing only 2 percent of traffic on our roads in 10 percent of all accidents involving motorcycles. Deaths from motorcycle accidents are more than ten years, has doubled in the past, and the number of 4,500 more highway deathsannually. There are also 78 000 injured in a motorcycle accident, and the rate of accidents among motorcyclists over the age of 50 has quadrupled.

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard –

The NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Enter FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) for motorcycle helmets in the U.S. back in August 1973. It 'was updated in October 1998. These standards relate and impactPenetration testing, and can stay on top of the pilot in an accident. There is also a requirement for motorcycle helmets sold in the U.S. at least a 210 degree field of vision, and a set of rules regarding the labeling of helmets.

Labelling requirements –

But what are the requirements for labeling? A DOT label or sticker must be mounted on the back of the helmet, central and bottom. It must also beDOT label sewn permanently to the inside, and is not where I could be removed with the foam. A real brand-DOT have the following information: the name or logo of the manufacturer, size, date of manufacture, model name or number and components of the helmet. If you do see this information in the label, not buy, do not repeat this helmet.

Attention to the new –

Novelty helmets, as the iconic Prussian styleHelmets can be popular and trendy, but not sufficient protection in an accident and, as such, DOT never approved. These helmets above even in the head and are very safe to wear while driving. If you have a dot sticker on one of these novelty helmets, DOT label inside check to see, unfortunately, scammers are out there – you can not be in the thought of a new helmet can deceive the DOT approval.
If you intend to wear the helmet for a costume party, take a pass on it.

Injury Claim is an Important Part of Recovering After an Accident

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It happens far too often, you are driving in the same careful mature fashion you were trained to do when you originally got your license, but you can not avoid those who share the road who are not similarly vigilant. By its nature, the accident takes you by surprise, if you had been afforded any opportunity, you might have been able to avoid it. The sound and fury of the impact is startling and leaves you a bit confused on how to respond to the vehicles movement in a manner you did not direct it. You think about the damage being done to your car, but the notion of filing an injury claim does not even surface yet.

The mechanics of the impact and subsequent tearing of metal squealing of tires seems to play out the way the old slow motion pictures do. You experience a heightened awareness combined with a frustrating disorientation. Your mind is working overtime to try to gain an understanding of what is happening and what you should do about it. Thankfully, you finally come to a stop, as does the other vehicle.

Now you begin the careful mental process of assessment, have you been injured, if so how severely? Can you move and if so is it safe to remain in the car or safe to get out of the car? Where is the other party to this mayhem and what is their condition. All of these things come to mind yet you remember what is expected of you following such a collision, instinctively you turn off the car and take off your seat belt. Luckily the car door opens smoothly and you get out of the now crumpled vehicle.

Once outside the car, there is an unavoidable desire to look at what damage it has sustained. You move around the vehicle and as you do you realize it requires more effort than normal. Determining the car is not in danger of catching fire or exploding, you look around to determine exactly where you are, knowing this will have to be included in your report.

Now the reality of the affect on your car comes to light. It is always a shock to see the result of a collision on an automobile. But as you take in the damage, you know that this is not the time to dwell on what happened to the car, there are other priorities. Your fear is allayed upon seeing the other driver has gotten out of his vehicle and is mirroring your action. Only now do you begin to realize there were others around who may ave witnessed the crash.

Thanks to the ubiquitous cellular telephone, 911 is called and first responders are on their way to the scene of the accident. It is time now to get the papers ready you will need to show you have been operating your motor vehicle in compliance with the law. You retrieve your proof of insurance, registration and license in preparation for your interview with the investigating official.

Witnesses come forward interrupting your calls to ask if you are all right and to assure you they will report what they saw to the police. On the phone, the insurance agent is gently guiding you through the information they need you to acquire for them to help you in filing your report and to set up repair or evaluation assistance, also asking if you will need transportation or if your vehicle can still be safely driven.

As the cacophony of noises from approaching first responders highlights the reality of the event, the insurance agent signs off to complete reports and make arrangements. You have finished debriefing the officer on the events as you remember them and he has turned to witnesses and the other party to continue his investigation. It is only now that you begin to feel a deeper pain and realize your initial assessment of your condition may have been too cursory. This is the time to call your insurance company back and make and ensure they know you will likely have to make an injury claim. The earlier they know about this the better, and they may have documentation requirements you will need to know about before you seek attention.

FAQ Regarding Interco Tires

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Considering a purchase of Interco tires? Read below to view the answers to some frequently asked questions. Perhaps yours will be included in the list, and you will then be well on your way toward making a purchasing decision. Frequently asked questions regarding the Interco brand include:

- Has Interco designed tires for different conditions? Yes. Interco manufactures tires for a wide variety of conditions. Their tires include Interco light truck tires, racmaster, ATV and trailer tires and wheels and tires for industrial and commercial use. If your tire needs fit into one of the categories mentioned above, it is in your best interest to discover more about Interco tires.

- How do I know which Interco tires to purchase? First, consider the terrain you plan to travel upon. Select an Interco tire series that matches it and then look for tires that are sized correctly for your vehicle.

- When should I replace my Interco tires? Ask the technician when he or she installs or rotates your tires. Just remember that it is always better to be safe than sorry. Replacing tires too soon as a preventative measure is always a sounder decision than waiting for the tread to completely disappear.

- I use my trailer to pull my boat. Does Interco manufacture tires for me? Yes. Trailertrac is the line (series) for you. These tires offer great value and high performance. Select these tires instead of the cheapest version you can find. You will be rewarded by many a safe trip.

- I really take my ATV through some rough conditions. Has Interco manufactured a tire that can withstand the pressure? Look at the Super Swamper TSL/ATV line. These tires are designed with some serious off-roading in mind. Add snow or ice to the mix, and they have no problem carrying a driver through the elements without a hitch. Lateral traction features reduce the risk of rollovers, which is a constant threat to ATV drivers and their passengers. You can consider Interco the safe tire option when it comes to ATVs. Remember to drive responsibly.

- I really take my ATV through some tough situations. Are you sure that I am going to have superior traction? There are a variety of Interco tires available to address any condition you may encounter. Be honest with yourself before you select one. Are you going to be covering truly rugged terrain? Are you just planning on traveling over some light mud? There are tires for both uses.
